VIDEO FOR BEASTS + NEW DEMO

Fox Cubs - Beasts Of England
Hello Friends!

Our first ever music video is now available on our page! What do you think? The video was filmed and edited by MenWithTheMovieCamera who you can find in our top friends on myspace. When we originally approached these guys about it we had much grander ideas, but due to time and financial constraints we opted to use live footage. We’re really pleased with the results and a big thankyou goes out to them for all their hard work on it.

We’ve also added a rough demo of a new song that has creeped into our set. It is called Passenger and is a little darker and more reserved than the music we usually produce. Hope you like it!

Thanks to everyone who has bought our single so far. Rough Trade has ordered in a second batch of the 7" already! Jurassic Park!

Cheers folks,
Tim & FC

March update

Hello y'all,

Beasts Of England was released early via indiestore to coincide with the Radio One session we did for Steve Lamacq. You can hear the session via our myspace page.

To download the single and its remix head over to Indiestore using the widget at the bottom.

Our iTunes release date has got messed up and we are still waiting... sorry.

Also the 7" format has arrived - so will be available at all shows from now on - it will be available for mail order and in a few independent shops (Rough Trade, Spillers (Cardiff), Resident (Brighton), and others) on 24th March

Last week we recorded 4 tracks for an XFM session with John Kennedy - we aren't sure when this will be aired yet, we'll keep you posted.

On the gigging front we have a show at the Dublin Caslte in Camden coming up next Tuesday. This is followed by a Club NME night in Swansea as well as lots of other London dates which are to be TBC. We've also confirmed two slots at this years Camden Crawl - we will be playing twice on the Saturday!!

In other news we went to see Editors at Alexandra palace and hit the after show party with our booking agent but were too shy to speak to anyone. In the end the drummer was forced to come and shake our hands in the most awkward manner possible. We really are so cool....

Tim is back for his 4 week Easter break this weekend so hopefully we should have some new songs/demos by the end of it. Look out for 'Revolver' a new song heavily influenced by Radiohead's 'In Rainbows'.

Take care,
FC

2008 Update

RIGHT!

Lots has happened over the last two months.

1. We recorded two tracks with producer Dave Eringa - photos of the recording process can be seen in blogs on our myspace page.

2. The artwork is nearly finished for our debut single BEASTS OF ENGLAND. It will be released at some point in March. The sleeve is being painted by an illustrator and it looks great so far.

3. This single will be supported by our first ever music video - more news on this soon.

4. We now have a booking agent, Mr Steve Zapp of ITB who's other clients include We Are Scientists, Biffy Clyro and Editors. We are very excited about working with Steve and cannot wait to get on the road and play some big shows.

5. Our demo of Beasts received radio play from Radio 1 on two other occasions after Colin Murray first played it. Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq also played it.

6. Following on from this Lamacq has booked us in for a Maida Vale session on the 18th Feb where we will be recording 3 tracks.

7. We now have a website: www.beastsofengland.com - an actual website should be on there in a month or so.

Hope you are all well and wish you a good 2008.

Tim

Colin Murray plays Beasts Of England on Radio One

That's right!

And you can LISTEN AGAIN via Colin's page on the interwebble.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/colinmurray/

It's about an hour in, sandwiched between Slash and The Two Ronnie's, conjuring possibly one of the most terrifying mental images one will ever experience.

Colin really goes to town and praises us with such inspirational words as "This is Fox Cubs", "Fox Cubs!" and "I love songs that go 'Hey Hey', that's all you need to do to impress me".

You heard it hear first. Shout "Hey" in your next song and it'll make it onto Radio One. If it doesn't then Murray is a god damn liar.

Moyles... we are coming for you.

Word.

Here is another new demo which came out of our practice yesterday. Lyrically it's a bit cheesey as I was rather rushed so it might change at some point.

New song, Producer, Milburn

Hello,

Here for your ears is a very rough demo of a new song we've been playing in the set lately. We wanted to see how heavy we could go without loosing the poppy nature of the songs we've been putting out recently. I think we just about get away  with it on this one.

We're also pleased to announce that Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild, Kylie and more recently The Dykeenies and Kubichek) has agreed to produce our single out of the good ness of his heart.

This is a great leap forward for the band and will hopefully get one of the labels to finally take the plunge with us.

We had a hectic day yesterday when we were offered a last minute slot supporting Milburn at Reading Students Union. It was great to get to play on a big stage again, with plenty of room to move about and be a bit more expressive. More gigs like that please!

Hoorah Mighty Boosh is back! Watching it now on Sky Plus. You should watch it too.

More news and possibly some more rough demos soon.

A spanner in the works

Hello, thought I'd write a little update.

We met up with Dave Eringa yesterday. Dave has produced pretty much everything the Manic Street Preachers have ever recorded along with a bit of Idlewild, Kylie Minogue and some new bands like Kubichek! and The Dykeenies.

We got hold of him for half an hour through various contacts we've made recently and the vibe seemed good. Hopefully we can get him in the studio with us at some point.

He did, however throw a spanner into the works with regards to which song we should release. He was adamant that You Never Learn is a better song than Beasts.

So now we have some thinking to do - we are also going to be recording some more demos of new stuff to send over to him so we'll put those demos up here too.

If you are in Oxford tonight we are playing at The Exeter Hall. If not maybe you will be in Reading tomorrow when we play the Oakford Social Club. If not then why not?

4Unsigned's band of the week.

We are this weeks band of the week on Channel 4's unsigned website.

This is what they had to say.

"There are a lot of good bands on 4unsigned, but there are a few that we consider totally exceptional.

Meet Fox Cubs. We'd consider them totally exceptional. We'd also consider them one of the most exciting new bands we've heard in a long time. Exciting and epic in equal parts, Fox Cubs take The Killers blueprint but skew their gigantic sound to give it a British teenage perspective.

Fox Cubs are self-releasing 'Beasts Of England' at the start of 2008, but 'the hit' comes in the shape of 'You'll Never Learn', a track with more life and energy to it than most of 2007's indie hits put together.

Fox Cubs are a band for whom 'unsigned' is merely the situation they currently find themselves in and not a description of the genre they belong to.

Check out Fox Cubs on 4unsigned.

We can't recommend them highly enough."

Fox Cubs 1st Official Release

Hello Cubs,

We have been busy lately. Things are starting to take shape.

The plan is to go into the studio over the next two months and re-record Beasts Of England along with a so far untitled brand new track (to act as the B-Side). If we have any money left in the budget we will record some others such as You Never Learn and I Could Be Wrong for use later on.

We are also beginning to get things together for an accompanying video. We want it to scare you. So expect lots of peculiar shots involving multiple projectors and sharp angles.

Pete is going away for a month in December so once the recordings are done and we are satisfied with the production we will sent them off with cover designs to be made into 500 limited edition vinyls. These will hopefully be distributed around stores like Rough Trade.

So by the end of Jan we hope to have the product along with the video and we are playing with Valentines Day as a release date. It will primarily be a digital download release, but with the 500 vinyls as well.

There are also plans to include a remixed, clubbier version of Beasts on the single to go out in all the indie clubs.

The single will go out on an a new imprint of an existing indie label, unless we can get some bigger boys to bite once we have the product in our possession.

We've started compiling footage for our first video blog. It won't be like your normal video blog however. Expect something a little more art house and interesting - covering all aspects of what we are doing at the moment.

And finally here is a list of our upcoming gigs:

22 Oct 2007The Fly
1 Nov 2007TJ’s
12 Nov 2007The Hope & Anchor
24 Nov 2007The Purple Turtle
28 Nov 2007The Purple Turtle
30 Jan 2008The Purple Turtle
